In her series Backscatter Blueprint, Noelle Mason shows how backscatter X-ray technology is used for border surveillance. By transferring the fleeting original digital images onto paper as cyanotypes, the vulnerability of people who hope for a better future by crossing the border becomes visible amid the rational, mechanical grids of vehicles and suitcases. The blueprint digital images give them a new intimacy.
