Description

The Bulgarian artist Xpome – a name derived from the Cyrillic spelling of the word ‘Chrome’ – favours a minimalist, graphic visual language based on pixel structures, which he is increasingly using in his graffiti, well known in urban spaces. He has been consistently pursuing this approach since around 2018: letters are formed from squares, tiles, bricks or stone-like modules. In his mural at the burden shed, Xpome employs a contrasting logic with his pixel-like letters. A clear, modular grid comprising 1,600 tiles is superimposed over the organic disorder, so that for a moment the motif becomes a low-resolution pictorial surface from the centre of which – as is customary in graffiti circles – the artist’s name emerges. X-POME.
