Description

You have to look a little more closely, because with Scarivets, the Russian artist collective Frukty has developed a subtle, site-specific intervention for the 2026 Urban Art Biennale that only reveals itself at second glance. At various points on the hut-like structures, they have placed deceptively realistic-looking rivets that coalesce into ornamental patterns. What initially appears to be part of the existing structure turns out to be a poetic intervention. Images of injury and resilience come to mind. The patterns are also reminiscent of body tattoos, which, in various cultural contexts – such as on the African continent – serve as an expression of identity, belonging and resistance.
