Description
Tempus Fugit by Giovanni Magnoli, alias Refreshink, creates a striking visual axis in the Möllerhalle at the Völklinger Hütte. With its mosaic-like visual language, the Italian artist’s work is reminiscent of a Roman mural in the style of Pompeii, combining a historical feel with the aesthetics of contemporary urban art. The title of the work refers to the fleeting nature of time and to the question of how transience can be captured in an image. This exploration takes on added depth at the Völklinger Hütte, a site of historical significance: the work reflects not only the constant transformation of material, surface and memory, but also the value of a place whose significance is drawn from the interplay between industrial history, decay and preservation. Thus, Tempus Fugit becomes a quiet yet poignant meditation on time, loss and cultural memory.
