FORGE - Video Mapping Festival
Making the ironworks glow and the invisible visible — that is what the artists of the FORGE Video Mapping Festival are realizing as part of the Interreg project GRACE. The result is site-specific video art that looks beyond the surface of the Völklinger Hütte, revealing its underlying structures and opening up new perspectives.
From 29 to 31 May, the seven films created specifically for the festival will be screened in a spectacular open-air setting on the ore yard, casting an innovative light on the iconic industrial complex of this World Heritage Site. They will be complemented by a contribution from the Apollon festival Saarbrucken and a special programme by Jérémie Bellot, who has previously projected onto the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame in Paris and is also a curator of the Constellations Festival in Metz. The FORGE Video Mapping Festival promises a magical and inspiring night. Doors open at 9 pm each evening; admission is free.
In the Interreg project GRACE, 25 cultural institutions and stakeholders from the Greater Region comprising Saarland, Lorraine, Luxembourg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Belgium are committed to developing new forms of cultural education involving artists.
